Enjoy the flavour of tacos in my new Low Carb Taco Pie recipe!

One of my favourite recipes here is Taco Pie. It was a popular recipe in our household back when I was eating whole grains.
But, now that I’ve cut out whole grains, we never eat it.
However, I knew there was a way I could enjoy the flavour of tacos again without the carbs. Sure, I could enjoy taco salad (which I do!) but I really wanted to try something different.
When I came out with my recipe for Low Carb Pie Crust, I knew I was on to something! I figured that anything I made before with a whole grain crust could now be used in this low carb crust.
Boy was I right!

The savoury taco flavour combined with the lightly sweet coconut flour crust is the perfect combination! The whole family loves this recipe, especially when you top it off with some full fat sour cream and avocado 
If coconut four isn’t your thang, or you don’t have time to make the crust, then you could leave out the crust entirely, it still tastes amazing.
- 1 Easy Low Carb Pie Crust
- 1lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 1Tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp ground pepper
- 1/3 cup water
- 5large eggs
- 3/4cup heavy cream
- 1/2tsp sea salt
- 1/4tsp ground pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 400.

In a skillet, brown ground beef until no longer pink, breaking up large pieces with a spoon.

While the beef is browning, prepare the pie crust.

Once beef is cooked, add onion and garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt and pepper and stir to combine. Add water and reduce heat to a simmer until sauce is thickened.

Place beef in cooked pie crust and spread evenly with a spoon.

In a large bowl combine eggs, cream, salt, and pepper. Pour over beef.

Sprinkle with shredded cheese and bake in oven for 30 minutes, or until centre of pie is set and cheese is browned.

Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with chopped tomatoes, avocado, and sour cream if you like!
